Top Ten Fictional Besties

Hosted by The Broke and Bookish

This week we got to pick any topic we wanted to, so like the innovative person I am...I scrolled down the past topics til I hit on one I thought looked fun haha

Ruby and Anya

All These Things I've Done (Birthright, #1)

I devoted like half a post on why these bff's are one of my favourite friendships of all time.

Unspoken (The Lynburn Legacy, #1)

I also devoted like half a post to why this is my other favourite friendship of all time

I've mentioned this manga a million times, but I don't think I've actually devoted a post to it (YET).  Kyoko and Kanae basically complete each other.  Kanae is a staunch supporter of Kyoko's (aka the girl with the lowest self esteem ever while still being badass and making the story line hilarious), whereas Kyoko softens all of Kanae's soft edges.  They would not be the people they are in the story line right now without  each other.

Harry, Hermione, and Ron (and Neville and Luna!!)

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)

Come on.  Does this really need an explanation?

 Lirael and Dog

Lirael (The Abhorsen Trilogy, #2)

Ahh one of my favourite stories of all time.  Without Dog, Lirael would have been just another melodramatic teenager.  And Dog...well, that would be spoilers ;)

Calvin and Hobbes

Calvin and Hobbes

Calvin would basically be an evil master of universe if he didn't have Hobbes to take him down a peg when he needs it.  And besides, who else would Hobbes go on crazy adventures with?

Emily, Lydia, and Cassie

The Year of Secret Assignments (Ashbury/Brookfield, #2)

It's like a funnier Aussie version of Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.  Don't get me wrong, I love TSotTP (which also made this week's list), but this was my first love (and it's freaking hilarious). This has been on my list so many times you should just read it so you know what I'm talking about!

Samwise and Frodo (And Merry and Pippin)

The Fellowship of the Ring (The Lord of the Rings #1)

The ultimate bromance.

Anne and Diana

Anne of Green Gables (Anne of Green Gables, #1)

Oh Anne, you would have only been a lonely girl with crazy flights of fantasy without Diana, and Diana your existence would have been so much more boring without Anne.  I adore the two of you!

Lena, Bridget, Tabby, and Carmen

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (Sisterhood, #1)

I grew wanting to be these girls, to have this sort of bond with other girls.  But I also grew up with quite a few guy friends, and ALL my friends hated each other, so that was never happening haha.  But seriously, what would this list be without this series?  It's like the definition of a book about fictional bffs.

And that's it for this week's TTT!  What topic did you choose?  Leave me a link in the comments below!  (Really leave a link or I won't be able to find your blog!)

  1. It's been so long since I read Anne of Green Gables, but I liked her friendship with Diana too. They have such different backgrounds and personalities, but are perfect friends.

  2. Sam and Frodo really are the ultimate bromance. Anne's and Diana's friendship was so precious to me growing up, and I have to say that I'm really happy that I found the Anne to my Diana. She's my BFF. :) Great list!

  3. Your (brilliant) list has reminded me that I need to read Unspoken. I love the friendships in Harry Potter. Very special.

  4. I know it's been ages for me too! I've definitely been in an L.M. Montgomery mode lately, so maybe I'll reread those (for the billionth time haha)

  5. I love Sam. There is not a point that I stop loving Sam (even when I feel like smacking Frodo). Frodo is all angsty and boohooey and Sam is just sunshine. And food. Especially the food. D'OH! I should have included Merry and Pippin on that list too! (...sneakily goes to edit list)

    Awww! That's adorable :D (And I'm jealous)

  6. YES YOU DO. I feel that most emphatically you must read it. I think you'll like it quite a bit (in my clearly extremely biased opinion haha)

  7. I think the Hobbits + food should be on your list in all honesty. ;) And Aragorn and not showering.

And I'm reading Skip Beat, very very slowly (I get distracted by Shingeki no Kyojin and Kuroko no Basket >.>) but I'm loving the friendship and characters there too.

  8. Oh the Bindie Mackenzie one is fab you should definitely do that one!

  9. I love your list :) Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants <3

  10. AHAHAHAHA....but so true hahahah

It seems like you mostly like seinen manga then? I haven't read either of the mangas you named yet, although I've had my eye on Shingeki no Kyojin for a while (...in all my free time that I don't have). But I have a crazy obsessive love for Skip Beat haha

  11. That is exactly how I feel hahah I'm like...but..but..what about this book! Why has no one read this?!

  12. If you're looking to have your feels ripped out and squished all over the place SnK (shingeki no Kyojin) is a good way to go.

I read a lot of it. But I do love some shojou and josei too. Kimi ni Todoke is an all time favorite of mine, but I'm way behind. I like Lovely Complex but I got distracted again.

  13. I would want Hermione to be my fictional bestie too!

  15. Oh I'm all about the feels - you've officially bumped this up on my tbr list!

Kimi ni Todoke is also on my tbr I've been told SO MANY TIMES that it's like the best thing ever. So I need to stop procrastinating and just read it before I build it up in my head too much! I'm like the opposite - I read a lot of shoujo and a little bit of seinen haha.

  18. I love fictional friendships sooo much. They are usually the kind of friendships I don't have in real life and that I really really want. I mean... who doesn't want to go on an adventure with Frodo and Sam???

Great pick. Fictional besties are the best! Harry, Ron & Hermione are definitely my favourites. Nice list :) My TTT.

  20. It's one of the sweetest friendships. I want an Anne! Or a Diana!

    ReplyDelete
  21. That sums up exactly how I feel haha! I'd take any of these friendships, anytime! And if it doesn't involve Mordor, I'm all for a Frodo and Sam adventure haha

    ReplyDelete
  22. I definitely have a soft spot in my heart for books that highlight good friendships :)

  23. I love the Sisterhood, but Anne and Diana will always be my favorites. In fact, my bff and I refer to each as Anne and Diana.

This is a wonderful list! :)

  24. Awww that's so cute and I want an Anne and Diana! Too bad my best friends are generally the wrong gender and don't know what Anne of Green Gables is haha

  25. BOSOM FRIENDS. <3 Anne and Diana forever.

I love that you have Calvin and Hobbes on here, too! I love them so much.

  26. I love that term so much! It's the only time the use of the word bosom doesn't creep me out haha

    ReplyDelete
  27. Um, yes. I cannot tolerate it elsewhere, either. The only time I come across it now is probably in the occasional historical romance, and I still make a face.

  28. I know right? Come on historical romance, get with the program! It's not like you're actually writing in the same style, and I'm pretty sure they had the word breast back then. Why do you insist on bosom?!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think you are seriously one of the ONLY people I know who's read the series! I actually haven't read the first or last book hahaha. I didn't realize it was a series when I got my version of the book - Finding Cassie Crazy. It's my goal to read the other two this year!

  30. I love The Year of Secret Assignments (and the whole series!). Very cute list!! Definitely the HP friendships are amazing too!
